Social Media Use and Autism – Teens and Adults
Social Media & the Neurodivergent Brain

I recently watched the recording available at Autism.org's page on Social Media Use and Autism – Teens and Adults. The talk went beyond just discussing autistic or neurodivergent youth—it addressed a wide range of individuals. It was insightful to learn that research has been conducted in this area, including the study Dear Diary: Teens Reflect on Their Weekly Online Risk Experiences by Pamela Wisniewski, Heng Xu, Mary Beth Rosson, Daniel F. Perkins, and John M. Carroll (link to study). One key takeaway was that social media platforms are not designed with neurodivergent users in mind, particularly in terms of how information is processed in the brain. This seems like an important area for future research.
